Ty Best for CASTE

CASTE

Designed by Ty Best, Caste is furniture, lighting, and objects. From his Montana workshop with woodworkers and finishers, Ty is inspired by natural forms, sculpture, brutalism, modern architecture, and the workmanship of traditional crafts.

With a career that began in fashion, it transitioned into fine art and sculpture. During the process of setting up his own gallery, he became fascinated with the furniture that supported his art which ultimately became his art. Ty shifted his focus to furniture and began expressing himself fully with an array of materials and forms creating his own visual language.

Caste prefers a hands-on approach, abstaining from digital shortcuts and avoiding trends in favor of a unique, disruptive style. The isolation and quietness of Montana play a significant role in the creative process. The process is often just as important as the final result.
